16 for ’16


Listed below are sixteen different focuses for sixteen different days during the New Year.

Take one day and do one of the following for that day.

If you can’t do it for the whole day, do it for a half day.

If you can’t do it for a half day, do it for an hour.

If you can’t do the entire goal, do some of the goal.

Some of these will be easy or even second nature.

Others will seem difficult if not impossible.

Make it your goal during 2016 to attempt each one.

The more you do the greater the impact will be.

Sixteen Focuses for 2016

  1. Refrain from saying anything negative, judgmental or critical about or to anyone.


  1. In each transaction with another person assume some good intent about them. (If you don’t know something good, make it up.)


  1. Say something positive to each person with whom you interact.


  1. Commit at least three “random acts of kindness.”


  1. Ask (in a nice way) for what you really want.


  1. Finish what you start.


  1. Be where you say you’re going to be when or before you say you’re going to be there.


  1. Drive at the speed limit.


  1. Eat only healthy foods.


  1. Unplug from all social media.


  1. Focus on fixing what is broken. It may be an object. It may be a relationship.


  1. Take the first step and do something concrete to begin breaking a bad habit.


  1. Relax (No explanation will be given. Simply do that which feels relaxing to you.)


  1. Write three notes to people who have had a positive impact on your life. Thank them for the impact they have had on your life. Send them a hand-written note. In the mail. With a stamp. (You remember stamps?)


  1. Spend the day volunteering your time to serve others.


  1. Surprise a partner or family member or coworker by doing one of their “chores.”
